In response to the overwhelming success and positive feedback from the previous Top 10 Bioinformatics Awards in India, Bioinformatics Review is excited to announce a comprehensive reorganization and expansion of the Excellence in Bioinformatics Awards. This initiative aims to elevate the recognition of talent, innovation, and impactful contributions in the rapidly evolving field of bioinformatics across India and beyond.

The Excellence in Bioinformatics Awards serve as a platform to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of bioinformatics professionals who are driving the future of life sciences. Rules for Nomination for “Excellence in Bioinformatics Awards” by Bioinformatics Review

  1. Eligibility Criteria:
    • Nominees must have made a significant contribution to the field of bioinformatics, either through research, innovation, education, or community involvement.
    • The nominee must have at least 3 years of experience in the field of bioinformatics.
    • Individuals or teams (maximum of 4 members) can be nominated.
    • Nominees may be from academia, industry, or independent research bodies.
  2. Nomination Process:
    • Nominations can be submitted by peers, mentors, or organizations. Self-nominations are also accepted.
    • Nominators must provide a detailed statement highlighting the nominee’s contributions and their impact on the bioinformatics field.
    • A resume/CV and a list of publications (if applicable) must be submitted along with the nomination form.

  3. Evaluation Criteria:
    • Nominations will be evaluated based on the quality and impact of the nominee’s work, such as significant research findings, innovative tools or algorithms, contributions to community resources, or excellence in teaching.
    • Consideration will also be given to leadership roles, mentorship, and efforts in promoting bioinformatics awareness.
    • The nominee’s commitment to ethical practices and collaboration within the bioinformatics community will be taken into account.
  4. Submission Deadlines:
    • All nominations must be submitted by the specified deadline mentioned on the Bioinformatics Review website. Late submissions will not be considered.
    • Nomination submissions open on 20 October 2024 and close on 31 December 2024.
    • Nominations will be reviewed within a period of 3 months, and finalists will be contacted for additional information if necessary.

    • Innovation in Bioinformatics Tools and Software
    • Emerging Bioinformatics Scientist
    • Outstanding Contribution to Bioinformatics Education and Training
  6. Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest:
    • All nominations will be treated with strict confidentiality by the review panel.
    • Members of the judging panel are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest with nominees and will recuse themselves from evaluating those nominations.
  7. Notification of Awardees:
    • Final decisions will be announced on the Bioinformatics Review website and through email notifications to the winners.
    • Awardees will be invited to participate in a virtual awards ceremony, where they will present their work and contributions.
  8. Award Benefits:
    • Awardees will receive a certificate of excellence, a cash prize (if applicable), and a feature article on Bioinformatics Review.
    • Winners may also be invited to join the advisory board of Bioinformatics Review and participate in future events as speakers or panelists.
  9. General Conditions:
    • All decisions made by the judging panel are final and cannot be appealed.
    • Bioinformatics Review reserves the right to modify the nomination process or eligibility criteria as necessary.
    • By submitting a nomination, nominators agree to the use of the nominee’s name and brief description of their achievements for promotional purposes by Bioinformatics Review.
